ANALYZING THE FILM “CHICKEN RUN” by Abisai

This film shows the special leadership of a hen (Ginger), but also there are other chicken that guide or lead in some way this particular group.
First of all Ginger is a hen that do not surround herself easily in spite all the failures she had when trying to escape from the farm. She was always planning a way to get out of there. Her leadership was charismatic and also she had some transformational traits. She was a strong leader because she does not show weakness when the group was almost to give up. She went out for the barn and cried there alone. She was in charge to take the decisions, but also asked for help when it was necessary and there was a chicken that helped her to put the plan in action. She had a clear vision of what she wanted: to go out from the farm and live in a beautiful place where she and her friends can live without worrying to be killed.
I can also notice that as a leader sometimes you need help because maybe you are not the expert in that area. For example she asked to the rats to help her to get some stuff which was going to help them to build a plane for escaping. She gave the responsibility to a rooster who was the intellectual one of the group. Moreover, she asked Rocky to teach them to fly and asked the colonel to fly the plane.
In the movie we can also see other leaders as rocky, the colonel and the lady’s farm owner. Rocky his particular trait as leader is that he was charismatic due to his behavior was out of the ordinary, he was seen as an agent of change and he was very sensitive. He wanted to see everybody happy and that was the reason he organized a party. The colonel used his position as the older one to give orders to the rest of the group and he assumed his leadership as result of a contingency (to fly the plane). The last one is the lady’s farm owner I can said that she was not a leader she was mainly a boss, but she has some characteristics of a transactional leader because she wanted to be recognize (by selling pies) and also she left her husband to fix the chicken pie machine without giving him some help.
At the end of the movie we can see more about Ginger´s leadership characteristics. She had good emotional intelligence and she showed it when she told Rocky she always said the true.
Finally the movie showed us that we can fail sometimes but we should insist and not to desist. There are always going to be people around to help us. It also shows us that when we work hard, when we as a group have the same purpose and work together doing what we need to do in pro of our group we can build, do and reach what we want. To be leader is not to work alone that is just part of some leader decisions we need to made, but being leader is to work with a team as if everybody were part of just one body which follows the same goal.
